  3. This file explains how to install SMARTDRV.EXE version 4.2
  4. and describes the new features of the program.
  5.  
  6. NOTE  Use SMARTDRV.EXE version 4.2 only if you have installed
  7. MS-DOS 6.
  8.  
  9. INSTALLATION
  10. ------------
  11. To install SMARTDRV.EXE:
  12.  
  13. 1. Copy the SMARTDRV.EXE file to the directory that contains your
  14.    MS-DOS files (for example, C:\DOS).
  15.  
  16. 2. If you have any older copies of the SMARTDRV.EXE file on your 
  17.    computer, delete them.
  18.  
  19. 3. Restart your computer.

  21. NEW FEATURES
  22. ------------
  23. The new SMARTDRV.EXE version 4.2:
  24.  
  25. * Includes a new /X switch that turns off write caching of 
  26.   all drives.
  27.  
  28. * Flushes the cache after completing an MS-DOS command or executing
  29.   an application, but before returning to the MS-DOS prompt.
  30.  
  31. * Includes a new /N switch that disables cache-flushing
  32.   after completing an MS-DOS command or executing an application.
